This temple of the Tendai sect, located on a hill facing the Arakawa River, has a spacious precinct surrounded by greenery, featuring buildings from the Edo period, including the mountain gate and the main hall (Amitabha Hall). The wooden seated statue of Amitabha Buddha at Senpukuji is known for its height of 89.3 cm and was made in the second year of the Kocho era (1262) during the Kamakura period, and it is designated as an important cultural property of the country. It was once enshrined in the Amitabha Hall, known as the "Daito," but due to its significance as a cultural property, it is now housed in a fireproof storage facility in front of the main hall.
