Kuroson Gorge is situated in the upper reaches of the Kuroson River, a tributary of the Shimanto River, which has been chosen as one of the 100 Best Waters of Japan in the Heisei period thanks to its clear water. The gorge is also known as a habitat of fairy pitta birds and land-locked trout. The scenery, with red maple leaves reflected in the clear river water, is picturesque, and visitors can enjoy a close-up view of autumn leaves on the riverbank.
