Notes & Remarks
■ Wooden standing statue of Juichimen Kannon Important Cultural Property (Former National Treasure, Finger Standard No. 975) It is said to have been created at the time of the founding of Hensho-ji Temple (989), and is thought to be the early work of Buddhist priest Yasuhisa (Jocho's teacher). It is the main god of Motohirosawaike Naka Kannon Island and is a Buddha statue representing the dynasty era. It is made of cypress wood, and was designated as a national treasure in 1917 along with the statue of Fudo Myoo (important cultural property, designated number 976). Dr. Takeshi Umehara, the philosopher of the Buddha, was highly praised.
