It was founded in 709 and is dedicated to the god of food, clothing and shelter. Saeki Lantern, which is held on August 14th every year, is designated as an intangible folk cultural property of the country as a festival for farmers wishing for bountiful harvest of five grians. It is believed to be a "cancer-countainment shrine" where people don't get cancer if they pray while rubbing oak trees with lumps in the precincts.
