Within the grounds of Chisokuin, there is the grave of Seiten, who is renowned as a scholar of Sanskrit. Seiten was born in Kamitunashimura, formerly Kishi Town (now Kazo City), became a disciple of the abbot Koei of Koshouji in the city (Kano), and after training at places such as Hase-dera in Nara and Chisokuin in Kyoto, he became the abbot of Chisokuin in the 10th year of Genroku (1697). Eventually, after becoming the abbot of Daishouji in Sano City, Tochigi Prefecture, he is said to have returned to Chisokuin in his later years to live in retirement.
