A warehouse belonging to the Nomura clan, once the most influential in Oita, was renovated to build this nostalgic museum and complex, Showa Roman-gura. Reminiscent of the Showa era, Showa Roman-gura museum features some 60,000 articles from said period and is one of the most extensive collections in the country. Along with a facility that allows you to experience the Showa period lifestyle, the complex features a "Showa Picture Book Art Museum," a Japanese restaurant with a variety of seasonal items, and much more, making it the tourist hub for Showa no Machi. A tourist information center is also situated on the premises.
