This festival is held in the Ogachi region of Yuzawa City, said to be the birthplace of Ono no Komachi, to commemorate her. Each year, seven Komachi girls (the Seven Komachi) are selected to recite Komachi's waka poems. You can also enjoy a kabuki performance and a stage production of "The Scene of Komachi's Rendezvous" by the Warabi-za Theater Company, as well as a charming procession of local kindergarten children.
