What is Tenjinko, a spring event? Tenjinko” is an annual event to remember Sugawara Michizane, the god of learning, on February 25, the anniversary of his death. Every year on February 25, hanging scrolls and ornaments of Tenjin-sama are displayed to pray for the healthy growth and academic success of children. Tenjinko is still practiced in various parts of the country, but the Tenjinko of Tsubame is characterized by the offering of brightly colored sweets. There is a legend that eating sweets at Tenjinko will “help you study better. Why not wish for your child's progress in his or her studies or sports as well as in studying or taking exams? The style of Tenjinko varies from district to district and from family to family. Please feel free to purchase sweets.
