This traditional performing art was passed down by Yamabushi (mountain ascetic monks).
It has a lively five-beat rhythm.
During the old New Year, performers visit houses around town in a ritual called “Kado-uchi no Tori Kagura.”
They walk through the town carrying seven items, such as swords, naginata, drums, flutes, and bells.
The performances include about 16 traditional dances that have been passed down over generations.
