Kaga Maruimo yam This type of vegetable derives from a yam species called “yama-no-imo” in Japanese. It is cultivated using soft soil and abundant water. Maruimo is highly nutritious and effective in tonifying the stomach, helping digestion, nourishing and strengthening the body. Characterized by its strong stickiness, fine flavor, and round shape, it is a rare and high-quality Kaga region vegetable. Widely used in Japanese cuisine as well as in high-end Japanese sweets and processed marine products. It was registered under the “Geographical Indications Protection System” (GI system) in 2016.
