In Hirose, the Kōbō Daishi image is worshipped in the Main Hall (about 6m square), which has roof tiles. The seated image height 83.6cm, and its right hand has a vajra instrument, and the left rosary beads. From documents which were stored in the back part of the head we know that it was made by Monk Gyōson in Oan 6 (1373). The statue is the second oldest Kōbō Daishi image after the statue in Gangoji Temple in Nara City. There is a bonji (stylized Sanskrit character) pond reputedly dug by Kōbō Daishi to the south of the temple precinct, where a there is also a rock used in spiritual training practices. To the side of the seated image of Kōbō Daishi is a cabinet containing an 11-faced Kannon statue (Sayabotoke). The 11-faced Kannon, made from sandalwood and about 30cm tall, believed to have been made during the Nara Period, was discovered when the piece was taken apart for repairs. The very rare, exquisite, 11-faced Kannon carving, is special enough to be ranked alongside the standing 9-faced Kannon statue, a National Treasure, in Hōryuji Temple. It is clear from the records that an 11-faced Kannon also here was made in the first year of Tenpuku (1233) as a Sayabotoke. Both the Sayabotoke and the standing 11-faced Kannon statue are kept in a storehouse.
