This festival is held on August 17 every year. On July 17 in 1585, Toyotomi Hideyoshi attacked Shikoku and the monk of the Teisho Temple (commonly Okannon san) and powerful clans died one after another at Nonoichigahara in Saijo City. This festival has been held for 400 years and has its origins in the fireworks that were set off by the people in order to offer a memorial service on July 17 1586, a year after this historical event.
