"Plum at the eaves" of Tohoku-in Temple The "Eave End Plum" on the east side of the main hall is a white plum that is said to have been planted by Izumi Shikibu, a poet who served Akiko Kamitomonin (Fujiwara) during the Heian period and lived in Ko Mido in the Tohoku hospital. This plum is known as "Uguisujuku plum", and is also the subject of the song "Toboku" created by Motokiyo Zeami during the Muromachi period. In the waka that wrote this plum, "I wonder if the scent of the plums will come out to you and see it?" (If you look at the scent of the plums with the scent of your sleeves, the plum blossoms will bloom. ) "Izumi Shikibu seishu".
