Tsubame Industrial History Museum

    • Museum・Archive
Encountering Craftsmanship Continuing from the Edo Period The Tsubame Metalworking Museum is an archive that tells the history of the metalworking industry in Tsubame, a manufacturing town. The museum also displays the works of metalworking artists and living national treasures who are still active today, as well as a valuable collection of kiseru (Japanese paper cellars) and 5,000 spoons from all over the world. At the hands-on workshop, visitors can pretend to be Tsubame craftsmen and casually experience metalworking, including “hammered hammering,” a rare metalworking experience in Japan, to create patterns with a hammer, and “cup making,” which involves molding a vessel. Visitors can create one-of-a-kind original goods by watching and touching the work.
