かかしをモチーフにしたユニークなイベントが共和かかし祭です。
8月下旬に共和町役場裏 憩いの広場にて開催され、歌謡ショー、ばん馬競技大会など、趣向を凝らしたアトラクションが繰り広げられます。
メインイベントは、町内外を問わず家族や仲間と手づくりして出来映えを競うかかしコンクール。スイカやメロンなどの即売会もあり、町民のみならず多くの観光客で賑わいます。
