寺伝によれば開基は三池師親、開山は慈覚大師によって823（弘仁14）年に開創されたといわれています。歴史と伝説の山、三池山の中腹にある天台宗の古刹です。樹齢450年以上といわれる県指定天然記念物の紅梅「臥龍梅（がりゅうばい）」や、秋には参道を染める紅葉の名所として親しまれています。また、境内には県指定文化財の木像や石塔群が数多くあります。 梅の季節には、臨時駐車場が多数設置されます。詳しくは大牟田観光協会（0944-52-2212）へお尋ねください。 公開日 2月下旬～3月上旬 10:00～16:00 植物 ウメ 時期 ２月下旬～３月上旬 料金／拝観時間／公開日／予約等 観覧料：中学生以上500円
