Geyser "Tatsumaki Jigoku" (or Tornado Hell) is an official Natural Monument of Beppu City. Every 30 to 40 minutes, it shoots out fumarolic steam and gases out of the ground. The discharge is so powerful that it alludes to an overwhelming and fierce tornado out of purgatory.
