The name "Bozu" (or Shaved Head) comes from the appearance of the gray bobbles popping up on the surface of Oniishi Bozu Jigoku - it resembles a shaved head popping out of the surface. Also on site here is a geyser nicknamed "an ogre's snore" measuring at 100°C/212°F in temperature. This fumarolic steam and gases shoot out with a loud sound as if an oni ogre is snoring very loudly. This particular onsen region is equipped with hot spring baths for relaxation as well - making it a great place for a quick stop during your Jigoku Meguri Hell Tour.
