"Tenjinko" is a memorial service to Sugawara Michizane, the god of learning, on February 25, the anniversary of his death. Every year, hanging scrolls and ornaments of Tenjin-sama are displayed to wish for the healthy growth and academic success of children.
TenjinKo is a custom that remains in various forms throughout the country, but Tsubame's TenjinKo is characterized by the offering of brightly colored sweets.
There is also a legend that eating Tenjinko sweets will "help you study better.
Why not wish for your child's progress in his or her studies or sports as well as in studying or taking exams?
The style of Tenjinko varies from district to district and from family to family. Please feel free to purchase sweets.
